David Dawon Choi

David is an award-winning New Zealand artist who was born deaf and almost totally blind. He started drawing at the age of three in his native Korea to communicate his thoughts and emotion.

This is a group exhibition showcasing printmakers from Te Puna Wai o Waipahu, Hagley College After 3 programme. Our printmakers work collaboratively in the After 3 programme where they support each other’s creativity and wellbeing. This is a selection of prints using a variety of techniques that these printmakers are exploring and developing. These techniques include mono prints, linocuts, woodcuts, drypoint, Tetra Pak and collagraphs. The prints exhibited are the result of collaborative learning in a positive environment.

Sayoko Pettigrew

Sayoko is a Japanese born New Zealand resident painter and potter based in rural Selwyn. After graduating from Nagoya Zokei Junior College of Art and Design, she found her calling as a Nail Art technician. After over 20 years of Nail Art, with multiple awards won in both Australia and New Zealand, Sayoko has turned her attention and talents to big canvas painting and pottery/sculpture. Sayoko’s current focus is on coil pottery, Gauche painting and capturing NZ icons in her paintings. Her art is influenced by a mixture of pop art and Japanese wood block prints.
